We are Maiam North America (“Maiam NA”).  We are a group of progressive minds living in the North American continent and interested in the progress and prosperity of the state of ThamizhNadu, India.  Maiam North America members, over 5000 in size, are registered members of Makkal Needhi Maiam, living in the North American continent.

Our primary objective is to help Makkal Needhi Maiam with subject matter expertise, policy making and next generation ideas that could transform the livelihood of people living in Thamizhnadu.

Maiam NA is a group of pragmatic and centristic individuals that focus on environmental, social and economical enrichment irrespective of religion, caste, creed, language or any other factor of discrimination.

Maiam NA Members work directly with Makkal Needhi Maiam leaders on a day to day basis with regards to inputs on policies, technology efforts, social media marketing and strategic ideas for citizen engagement and awareness.  Maiam NA members get the unique opportunity to present these ideas and engage in conversation with MNM’s President Dr. Kamal Haasan.

We are fans of one of the greatest actors that India has ever produced, Dr. Kamal Haasan.  We are attracted towards his social welfare initiatives for the past 40+ years and his centristic ideologies.  Dr. Kamal Haasan was the first actor in world cinema that converted thousands of his fan clubs into a united welfare organization called “Kamal Haasan Narpani Iyakkam”.  When Dr. Kamal Haasan decided to pivot towards politics, he established the first ever centrist party in India, Makkal Needhi Maiam.  Being a fan of his social messages in his movies, it was a seamless transition from fans and welfare workers to advocates of his centrist ideology.
